Marina del Rey/Venice

also see Taco Trucks of the Westside

Great Western Hoagie
1720 Lincoln Blvd., 310-450-4545
Lincoln Blvd cheesesteak. Not bad for the neighbourhood.

Mariscos Guillen aka La Playita
3306 Lincoln Blvd
(310) 452-0090
Lincoln Blvd mariscos shack with rock bottom prices and soggy but delicious fish tacos.

Uncle Darrow's
2560 S Lincoln Blvd Marina del Rey, (310) 306-4862
Marina del Rey soul and Cajun, the friendliest restaurant in L.A.? I keep returning here which is extremely uncommon, not only is their oyster loaf, etouffee and jambalaya very good, but everyone gets free gumbo samples and lots of love.

Joe's
1023 Abbot Kinney. 399-5811
Anomalous expensive place with white linen tablecloth and crumb-scraping!!! Venison, bacon risotto, sardine salad - suuper good but strictly for expense account meals.

Baby Blues Barbeque
444 Lincoln Blvd, 310 396 7675
Fine barbeque with particularly commendable sides (although blue cheese in mac n'cheese is debatable). Memphis ribs good and smoky though not quite the equal of the Crenshaw standouts in my opinion. Pulled pork not as vinegary as that served in Chapel Hill. Pricier than the others on my BBQ page.

Don't sleep on Mao's (Chinese on Pacific) & Alejo's (Italian on Lincoln) for BYOB deliciousness.

Re: Mariscos Guillen aka La Playita

You have missed the boat if you order tacos here. The deal is to get what locals crave, burrito con camarones y carne asada; their locally legendary surf and turf burrito. It's fresh shrimp, hot carne asada, spicy pico de gallo, guacamole and cheese with fresh chopped onions and fresh cilantro..awesome! Ask them to leave off the beans and rice and add guac and cheese if you want it the way locals like it. If you're starving, then the get the whole gigantic mess with beans and rice in it, but then you'll kinda miss the point...
