East LA

El Tepeyac
812 N Evergreen St., Boyle Heights, CA 323 267-8668
Revered Mexican-American burrito temple in East LA/Boyle Heights with Brobdingnagian servings. Machaca is good and salty.

Tacos Baja Ensenada
5385 Whittier Blvd., East L.A.; (323) 887-1980
Best fish tacos I have ever tasted and real cheap! Immaculate freshness and crispy coating, also try jaiva/crab tostada.

La China Poblana
3527 E. Whittier Blvd., Los Angeles
Truck in a parking lot with serviceable cemita not nearly as good as Gold claims. No chipotle when I visited or papalo, but rubbery queso blanco and milanesa are satisfying on the eponymous sesame seed roll.

King Taco.
4300 E Olympic Blvd - Los Angeles, CA. 323-264-9051
Taco chain near the pinnacle of L.A.'s Darwinian proliferation of the species. Al pastor tacos and sopes that are out of this world. Highly recommended. Awesome mollejas/sweetbreads.

La China Poblana has moved from their original location to Esperanza and Whittier. Just a couple of blocks up. They actually bought a little place now. Still good though.

Taco Village - Montebello

Corner of Beverly Blvd. and Bradshawe across the street from Astro Burgers.
I little restaurant with probably the best Carne Asada burrito in the L.A. area, just ask Bandini. Tacos are good but a little pricey. They have a big menu with lots of great entries.

Frumentos - Montebello

Beverly Blvd. across the street from the Montebello Hospital.
One of the last Italian Deli's in the SGV. Huge selection of Sandwiches and sides, has a good but small italian market too. Great spot to order from for the big game or before a family picnic. They have two new locations, one in the Torrance area and the other in the Chino Hill area. Family owned and operated.
