American: Hawaiian

Bruddah's
1033 Gardena Blvd., Gardena 310-323-9112
This is what a Hawaiian cafe should be. Magnificent plate lunches with all your usual favourites. My top pick for Hawaiian fare - you won't be hungry for days.
062405 update. Bruddah's fantastic braised short ribs are now available on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thick gravy with slight peppery taste and falling-off-the-bone tender meat, unlike most of the plate lunches they are unadulerated American fare.

Back Home In Lahaina
17311 Yukon Avenue, (310) 523-3373
Likeable Hawaiian joint in Manhattan Beach. You can't lose with pork stewed in the dark taro leaves used in lau lau.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue
1258-C West Redondo Beach Blvd., (310) 630-5868
Chain, but good place for your Hawaiian fix. Who can resist lau lau? Gardena.

You have missed Rutt's Hut on Washinton Blvd, just east of Inglewood Blvd. Of course I missed it for many years thinking it is a bar. I meet some people there, die heart Hawaiians who love it. Great Breakfast, Hawaiian French Toast etc.

L&L has a store next to the Home Depot in Panorama City. I prefer Seoul Grindz, in the Glendale Marketplace (100 S. Brand), myself.
